Success Story - Laser and Electron Beam Welding of Stainless Steel Assembly for the Commercial Industry

Written by Chris Kielb | Dec 31, 2021 1:45:00 PM

When a Mississippi manufacturing client asked us to produce 30,000 assemblies for an air conditioning application, our team of designers and welders set right to the task of helping out.

The assembly process consisted of laser welding and electron beam welding.

Using our high-tech capabilities in this field, we cleaned, assembled, laser tacked, and electron beam welded each assembly 360 degrees circumferentially. Using CNC equipment for tracking, we welded each piece to a penetration depth of .030" - .040". Overall part dimensions were 1 ¾" long and 2" in diameter. After completion of welding, the parts were pressure and helium leak tested, then returned to our satisfied customer.
